Maine Venture Fund welcomes BluShift Aerospace

Maine Venture Fund is proud to welcome bluShift Aerospace to our portfolio. Founded in 2014 and based in Brunswick, Maine, bluShift is building a vertically integrated small rocket propulsion and launch company - manufacturing its own proprietary, nontoxic, carbon-neutral biofuel and reusable rocket engines that cost less than half of traditional rocket propulsion, and developing its own private launch site on Maine's coast. In 2021, bluShift made history as the first company in the world to launch a commercial rocket powered by biofuel.

bluShift is led by founder and CEO Sascha Deri, a physicist and electronics engineer who has spent more than a decade advancing Maine's aerospace industry from the company's Brunswick Landing headquarters. BluShift has previously raised capital and grant support from investors and partners including Late Stage Capital, Maine Technology Institute, NASA, U.S. Space Force and the U.S. Air Force through SBIR and STTR programs.

This investment will help bluShift complete full-duration engine burn testing, build out its launch site, and scale toward commercial suborbital and eventually orbital launch services for the growing small satellite market.
