Moving You Forward

Maine Venture Fund, Maine Technology Institute, and other investors have provided funding to Accelera, Inc.  that will be used to launch the company’s sales, distribution and production scale up. The company has an exclusive license for stochastic resonance (SR) patented technology for use in human wearable applications that was originally developed at the Wyss Institute at Harvard University. In laboratory and clinical settings Accelera’s wearable SR-100, has demonstrated the ability to enhance the body’s natural signals thereby enabling or improving movement control.  The effect enhances proprioception, the sense of self-movement, force, and body position that sometimes is described as the “sixth sense”.   Accelera is the first to incorporate this technology into a wearable device that can be used daily without risk of harm or discomfort.

“Watching someone open her hand for the first time or seeing a 3-year-old ]*> src="https://www.maineventurefund.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Picture1-300x200.png" alt="" width="237" height="158" />walk for the first time is truly emotional. Our mission at Accelera is to help improve the lives of the millions of children and adults with neurological deficits. Everyday normal functions such as walking, eating a meal, or tying a shoe may seem routine, but for people with neurological challenges, these simple tasks can be monumental” said Mike Wing, Co-Founder and CEO.

The SR-100, packages the technology in a wearable strap worn on the arm, wrist, leg, or ankle. Custom applications for other bodily positioning are also available. Using Accelera’s proprietary software, an individual can wear up to four SR-100s at once in different body positions and each at a different setting.

Accelera's technology has provided my patients with more awareness of the affected side of their body, enabling greater control, quality of movement, and accuracy. Most importantly, when using this technology, they demonstrate increased confidence as they move” Jessica L., MS, OT (Therapist)

“We signed up for a study using the SR-100 with his doctor. We completed the study on his arms and out of curiosity tried it on his legs. In this moment, I heard his therapist’s words and her goal of him walking while holding my hand, and for the first time I could see it too.  I could feel the lump in my throat and held back tears. Not only was he taking steps with LESS support, but he was also no longer scissoring his steps when just moments before he was”.   April B., Mother of a child with CP
