Maine Venture Fund is proud to welcome Mother of Fact to our portfolio.
Mother of Fact’s solution is a digital health platform for women’s health clinics that connects patients with registered dietitians. The company has a specific focus on Medicaid populations and believes it has an advantage over a crowded field of competitors due to its ability to integrate into clinical workflows and the high content engagement rate – 80% of referred patients engage with Mother of Fact dietitians. Mother of Fact is driving meaningful health outcomes for underserved maternal populations in Maine and beyond, while demonstrating early traction and scalable clinical integration.
CEO and Founder Emily Sylvester, a registered dietitian and a certified lactation consultant, has delivered care at health clinics in the past, including Boston Medical Center. Mother of Fact graduated from the initial cohort of the Roux Institute Healthcare Founder Residency as well as from past cohorts of Techstars, Startup Health, gener8tor, EforAll, and Mass Challenge and continues to leverage those networks – most recently joining the Startup Health Food is Medicine Moonshot.
After working with countless families as a maternal and pediatric registered dietitian – and becoming a mother herself – Emily found herself eager to create a nutrition platform where mothers could get trusted clinical support during pregnancy and postpartum. With a goal to reduce preventable maternal and infant complications and deaths through expert-led medical nutrition care, Mother of Fact is reshaping how healthcare systems approach food-as-medicine for the perinatal population.
Mother of Fact signed its initial contract with Northern Light Health and expanded that contract in 2024 through its work at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Additionally, the company is working with MaineHealth, Redington-Fairview General Hospital, and Mount Desert Island Hospital, as well as other health clinics to the benefit of Mainers across the state.
