Maine Venture Fund is proud to welcome our latest portfolio company, KinoTek. Kinotek is a Portland-based software startup in the digital health space that helps sports clinicians and coaches better analyze and understand human movement. They provide fast, accurate and objective movement analysis software that enhances communication and improves quality of care.

Kinotek was started in 2018 by co-founders Justin Hafner and David Halomakoff as a spin-out of Hafner’s kinesiology research at the University of Maine. Their software uses computer vision technology to capture full-body computer visualizations, including measurements of things like joint range of motion and asymmetry. Kinotek’s customers are physical therapists, chiropractors, occupational therapists, and athletic trainers, who can use these objective visualizations to better rehab and communicate with their patients.

Notably, Kinotek has participated in the six-month long leAD Lake Nona Sports & Health Tech Accelerator in Florida and more recently the Roux Institute's Founder Residency Program in Portland. Additionally, Kinotek has partnered closely with their beta tester cohort. Their testing partners play a critical role in the development of the product by giving them insights on necessary features and improvements. As announced last week, Kinotek recently closed a $2.1M seed fundraising round. MVF invested alongside Bridge Angels and the Lake Nona Fund to help the company set up for a successful launch. MVF has been excited to watch Kinotek grow over the last few years, and we are excited to support the Kinotek team in this next chapter of growth in Maine. Welcome to the MVF portfolio, Kinotek!
