MVF Welcomes Newest Team Member, Joe Powers

The Maine Venture Fund is pleased to announce that Joe Powers has joined our management team as a venture capital analyst and investment manager.

Joe holds an MBA from Tuck school of business and has spent much of the last decade in San Francisco and New York where he built a career working with early stage companies in the sustainable technology sector, such as Tesla and Zoox. During his time at these companies, Joe held a wide variety of positions across sales, marketing, business development, retail development, and operations. After his work with these early stage companies, Joe transitioned to other roles within the start-up ecosystem. He spent two years building a sustainable clothing company called Ripso, and ultimately made the difficult but wise decision to dissolve in an orderly fashion when it was clear that the business model couldn’t scale. Joe is also an active angel investor and SCORE mentor with the award-winning Portland chapter.Joe’s experience as both an employee and a founder at early stage companies, as an angel investor, and as a SCORE mentor gives him a breadth and depth of knowledge that will be a vital asset to MVF team. “Joe will be a great addition to the team” says Managing Director, John Burns, “He has experience on both sides of the table in private equity investing. He is an entrepreneur who raised capital, started and ran a small business, and has been a private equity investor. He has also mentored small private companies.”MVF is excited to welcome this Vermont native to Maine and the Maine entrepreneurial ecosystem. We believe the investment community will enjoy working with Joe at his new role at MVF.
