Our fifth feature in the Board Member Spotlights Series! 

We will introduce one of our Board members to share a little bit more about their experience and the perspective they bring to Maine Venture Fund. 

The MVF Board is made up of 11 volunteers, all appointed by the Governor of Maine, and each with specific expertise that enables MVF as an organization to thoughtfully evaluate the best way to support Maine companies. The MVF Board is responsible for making all investment decisions.

This installment features Peter Delgreco.

Can you share a little bit about your professional experience?

I have worked for Maine & Co. since 2004, the last 10 years as President (before that, I was in the food industry).  At Maine & Co., we find growing and expanding companies and show them how they can be successful in Maine.  My professional experience has always centered on speaking with growth minded people or organizations and helping them accomplish their goals.

What is a professional accomplishment you are most proud of?

At Maine & Co., I have the honor and privilege of representing 30+ senior leaders in Maine in helping my organization accomplish its goals.  That is a responsibility I take very seriously.  One of my all-time favorite projects is athenahealth in Belfast.  We worked with the company for three years and then they decided to invest in Maine and employ over 800 people here.

What is one of your favorite summer activities in Maine?

I love spending time with my wife and son, especially during baseball season.

Can you share one thing you always consider in the diligence process for companies pursuing investment from MVF?

Market and team are always important to review.  That said, I like to look at company revenue models.  I find it fascinating how creative some companies can be when it comes to raising revenue.  Talented senior leaders are adept at creating numerous revenue streams that may not seem intuitive at first.  

How do you recharge?

I like to recharge by sitting with my wife and watching my son play baseball…it’s especially fun if it’s a dog friendly location.
